1972: Following some years as a sole trader, N T Killingley Ltd was founded in 1972 by Neil Killingley. Private and domestic landscaping and maintenance work marked the company’s inception, leading to significant projects in colliery tip reclamation for the National Coal Board and Derbyshire County Council.

1992: By 1992, the company employed around ten staff with a turnover of £200,000 and welcomed Neil’s son, Matthew, to the team. As the landscape of their work changed with the decline of the NCB, the company diversified its offerings over the next three decades.

1995: Matthew Killingley assumed the role of Managing Director in 1995, bringing fresh perspectives and industry experience to the leadership team.

1998: The company’s growth trajectory soared in 1998 as the office expanded, and the first external Contracts Manager was appointed, leading to a turnover of £1 million.

2001: In 2001, new premises at Old Manor Nurseries were acquired, setting the stage for future expansions and developments.

2004: A significant milestone was reached in 2004 when the company relocated to larger premises at Temple Normanton, necessitating a substantial increase in turnover, which soared to £15,000,000.

2012: 2012 marked another milestone as Killingley achieved ISO certification, a testament to its commitment to global standards of quality assurance.

2007: The Earthworks division was launched in 2007, marking a strategic move towards diversification and new avenues of growth.

2014: Major investments were made in 2014 to enhance Old Manor Park’s offices and infrastructure, setting the stage for future growth and innovation.

2016: 2016 marked a proud moment as Killingley was awarded the BALI principal award for the first time, recognising its exemplary professionalism and workmanship.

2017: Exciting developments unfolded in 2017 with notable projects like the RHS central show garden at the Chatsworth Flower Show, alongside various industry accolades.

2019: In 2019, Gareth Dillon was appointed Managing Director, leading efforts to rationalise the business and drive efficiency.

2020: 2020 saw Killingley’s entry into the prestigious RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, marking a commitment to safety excellence and organisational achievement.

2021: A sombre note was struck in 2021 with the passing of founder Neil Killingley, whose legacy of integrity and dedication continues to inspire the company.

2022: As NT Killingley Ltd celebrated its 50th year of incorporation in 2022, the company pledged to give back to the community and achieved its first ROSPA GOLD AWARD, marking a half-century of excellence in the industry.

2022 – As we hit 50 years of incorporation the company pledged to raised 50k, to be spread between 5 local charities. It was also a huge celebration when we won our first ROSPA GOLD AWARD.
