A Degree of success for Thomas Downing

Our very own Thomas Downing, Estimator for Soft Landscapes, has gained a BA Honours in Professional Practice in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management from the Middlesex University.

The work-based qualification was specially designed by Middlesex University for people already working in the construction industry. Thomas has been able to fit studies around his work using live projects and work activities as the basis for his learning. The qualification gives Thomas the recognition for his professional learning experience and hard work.

Thomas said of his achievement, “I have been with NT Killingley for 7 years, within those 7 years they have supported me with my studies. This includes a level 3 HNC course, Level 4/5 foundation degree and finally my Professional Practice in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management BA Honours degree.

Moving forward I hope to undertake an RHS course in Plant Growth, Health and Applied Propagation. This will increase my understanding of planting and aid me in my job role when discussing issues with Architects and Clients In the future.”

Angel Fernandez for NT Killingley added, "Encouraging and assisting our staff in the realisation of their career goals is a core value to NT Killingley. We would like to congratulate Thomas on his achievements and wish him well as he  continues to grow with the business."
