11,520 Trees Planted at Shatton Clough Woods
Soft Landscaping contractor NT Killingley Ltd has completed the planting of 11,520 tree whips at Shatton Clough Woodland.
The hillside location in the Peak District was overgrown with bracken and suffering from water erosion. In the first phase, the site was fenced off with 1,512 linear meters of timber post and wire mesh fencing that included the installation of 4 12' 5 bar field gates and 2 timber badger gates.
The bracken areas were treated with herbicide before a selection of whips were planted and then protected with Tubex Tree Shelters.
The remote hillside location presented many challenges for the team including restricted access and limited mobility due to the slope gradients in certain areas.
Despite the tough conditions, the Soft Landscapes team finished the project to specification and on time installing carefully selected variety of trees that will stabilise ground conditions and allow new wildlife habitats to flourish.
