Contract Name: Busk Meadows
Contract Value: £ 450 000
Form of Contract: JCLI
Client: Sheffield City Council
Dates: Sept 2005 – Mar 2006
Busk Meadows was carried out by Killingleys for Sheffield City Council, under the direction of Landscape Architects Gross Max of Edinburgh. The scheme was £ 450 000. A major part of the project was a £ 80 000 design and build lighting sub-contract, which was designed and installed by our specialist sub-contractor IES Lighting. This worked so well that we would use the same company again on similar porojects. The scheme also involved high-quality gabion baskets to from architectural spatial divisions within the park area.Pre-formed concrete seating was imported from Spain to give the park a distinct feel. A technical geo-engineered earth bank was installed to give shelter, privacy and seating to a football pitch. Breedon paths linked the various discrete areas.A boardwalk was built to cross newly formed wetland areas which hosted artist designed steel dragon flies. The scheme also boasted some excellent semi-mature planting of multi-stemmed birch and hazel, imported from Germany. All followed by 12 months maintenance.
